NEW DELHI: Sai Sudharsan entered the IPL record books on Friday by becoming the fastest batter to complete 2,000 runs in the tournament during Gujarat Titans’ match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The GT opener reached the milestone in just 47 innings, going past Chris Gayle, who had taken 48 innings to get to 2,000 IPL runs.
Sudharsan came into the match needing 72 runs to break the record. With this knock, he took his overall tally beyond 2,000 runs.

Sai Sudharsan was eventually dismissed for 100 off 58 balls by Josh Hazlewood.
Before this game, he had scored 1,928 runs from 46 matches and 46 innings at an average of 45.90 and a strike rate of 145.83, with two centuries and 13 fifties.
Earlier, Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Rajat Patidar won the toss and opted to bowl against Gujarat Titans in their IPL clash here on Friday.
English batter Jacob Bethell is set for his first match of the season after being picked in place of an injured Phil Salt in the only change to the lineup for RCB.
Shubman Gil-led GT made a couple of changes, handing a debut to Windies pace bowling allrounder Jason Holder while Manav Suthar also returned to the XI.
