Franchises can start bidding for as little as Rs 2 crore, with the expectation that the top will command much larger sums. There is a lot of speculation about who will be rewarded handsomely.
This will be a mini-event, but there will undoubtedly be some large money thrown around and some significant moves made given the type of players that certain teams have released and some of the names that are up for grabs. This year's auction pool includes a number of big names as well as some young names that could spark bidding wars.

IPL 2024 Auction: Most valuable players at IPL AUCTIONS

Here's a look at the most valuable players at IPL AUCTIONS. Can anyone breath the 20 crore mark today?
Players can start bidding for as little as Rs 2 crore, with the expectation that the top will command much larger sums. There is a lot of speculation about who will be rewarded handsomely.
Let's take a look at the five players who could set the IPL 2024 auction stage on fire.
Pat Cummins (Australia)
Pat Cummins, an Australian fast bowler who missed this year's IPL due to a hectic schedule, is making a much-anticipated return. Cummins was instrumental in Australia's recent World Cup victory, winning praise for his effort. The 30-year-old is expected to be a sought-after item, with a top base price of Rs 2 crore.
Harshal Patel (India)
RCB released the right-arm pacer ahead of the IPL 2024 mini-auction. Patel has recently been one of the top Indian pacers in the IPL, with 111 wickets in 91 matches. He took 14 wickets in 13 matches last season, before excelling in the 2021 season, when he took 32 wickets in 15 matches and won the Purple Cap.
Patel, who is adept at bowling in batting-friendly conditions at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, may be an astute signing for a team searching for a fast bowler. The Gujarat-born bowler, who has a starting price of Rs 2 crore, might spark a bidding battle in Dubai.
Shahrukh Khan (Uncapped player)
Because of the influence Shahrukh has had on the IPL, it's easy to assume that he will stat a bidding war between the teams. Despite being an uncapped player, Shahrukh's big-hitting skill has propelled him to the top of the pool. He is an exceptional finisher and a good spin bowler. It's also why his release by the Punjab Kings was seen as one of the most perplexing actions prior to the auction. Shahrukh scored 156 runs at a strike rate of 165.95 in 14 matches last season.
Shardul Thakur (India)
Thakur was released by the Kolkata Knight Riders prior to the IPL 2024 retention deadline. Thakur has played in the Indian Premier League for eight seasons and has made 86 appearances. Thakur, a fast-bowling all-rounder, has 89 wickets at an economy of 9.18 and a strike rate of 18.83 in his IPL career. He has also scored 286 runs at a strike rate of 140.20 with one half-century.
He might be an excellent choice for teams seeking a fast-bowling all-rounder or an Indian pacer, such as Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings, SunRisers Hyderabad, and Punjab Kings.
Mitchell Starc (Australia)
Australia's fast bowler Mitchell Starc earned his second World Cup title this year and hasn't appeared in the IPL since 2015. Starc has frequently been a prime candidate for the most expensive buy in the past, and despite being 34 and nearing the end of his career, he remains a coveted property. He could still be the most expensive buy of them all.
While the left-arm bowler was signed by KKR for Rs. 9.4 crores in the 2018 IPL auction, he did not play a single match and was later released. Starc is expected to be one of the big money buys in the auction after a World Cup campaign that gained fire in the latter stages, with several clubs looking for an overseas pacer.
IPL 2024 Auction: Rishabh Pant is in the house

Rishabh Pant has arrived for the IPL Auction.
Pant, who missed the previous season due to severe injuries that he sustained during a horrific car accident, is gearing up for the IPL 2024 auction.
The Delhi Capitals has arrived in Dubai for the IPL 2024 auction. Pant will be the first active player to participate in the auction. He has never attended a similar event and is looking forward to it.
Pant made his IPL debut in 2016 following which he appeared in 98 matches for the franchises and scored 2838 runs with a strike rate of 147.97.
Pant has been out of competitive cricket for several months now and is recovering from critical injuries sustained in a car accident.
The Indian wicketkeeper-batter has demonstrated exemplary tenacity and determination in his recuperation.
Pant missed out on the last edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, the World Test Championship (WTC) final, and the ODI World Cup 2023.
IPL Auction: Gautam Gambhir arrives

KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir has arrived in the auction arena.
Former Kolkata Knight Riders captain Eoin Morgan believed that the combination of mentor Gautam Gambhir and captain Shreyas Iyer could help the team to resurrect its fortunes in the IPL 2024.
The Knight Riders, who finished seventh in 2023 and 2022, have brought back two-time title winning captain Gambhir as their mentor ahead of the next edition. Iyer had missed the whole of last IPL owing to an injury as Nitish Rana led the side.
IPL 2024 Auction: Aussie pacer Hazlewood available only in May
Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood, who has been tipped to create ripples in auction room, will be available for IPL 2024 only from the first week of May, as per the BCCI intimation to the teams.
Hazlewood, who played an integral role in Australia's recent ODI World Cup win, will be away in March and April as the pacer and his wife are expecting their first child.
Hazlewood, who was released by the Royal Challengers Bangalore, has been bracketed in the top-of-the-line Rs 2 crore base price category in the player auction to be held in Dubai on Tuesday.
IPL Auction 2024: Rajasthan Royals
Purse Left: 14.50 crore
Potential Players of Interest: Mainly domestic Indian batters like Sameer Rizvi, Swastik Chikkara, Ashutosh Sharma, Abhimanyu Singh, Saurabh Chauhan
Royals have always had a good clutch of youngsters picked from domestic tournaments and rigorous trials. All those who have performed in Syed Mushtaq Ali, TNPL, UP Premier League will have a good chance of getting deals.
IPL Auction 2024: Punjab Kings
Purse Left: Rs 29.10 crore
Potential Players of Interest: Shardul, Harshal, Rachin Ravindra
Punjab Kings have two overseas slots left and if they follow their old trend of going for the flavour of the season, then Rachin Ravindra could be a potential pick and they have the money to go the distance for the Kiwi.
However what they need urgently is a quality Indian pacer and the three options are Harshal, Shardul and Umesh Yadav.
IPL Auction 2024: Sunrisers Hyderabad
Purse Left: Rs 34 crore
Potential Players of Interest: Anyone and everyone
With not many Indian players in the roster, Shardul and Harshal could well be their choice too and they can bid deep. But they would need at least one good foreign pacer and one more top-order batter - preferably Indian.
IPL 2024 Auction: Mumbai Indians
Purse Left: Rs 17.75 crore
Potential Players of Interest: Hasaranga, Manav Suthar, Ashutosh Sharma, Darshan Misal
MI doesn't have too much money but its scout will make a bargain buy in terms of uncapped Indian players. Left-arm spinner Manav Suthar has made quite an impression and was also part of MI's talent development squad. In terms of foreign spinners, there is Wanindu Hasaranga.
IPL 2024 Auction: Lucknow Super Giants
Purse Left: Rs 13.15 crore
Potential Players of Interest: Gerald Coetzee, Dilshan Madushanka, Ashutosh Sharma
LSG would look at another quality fast bowling option apart from Mark Wood. Starc, Hazlewood and South African Gerald Coetzee are three options readily available. Among left-arm pacer, there is Nandre Burger and Dilshan Madushanka. Among uncapped Indian batters, there is Railwayman Ashutosh Sharma, who scored 12-ball-50 in SMAT.
Indian Premier League has introduced a significant change that allows bowlers to deliver two bouncers per over in an effort to create a fairer balance between batsmen and bowlers.
The new rule will come into play in the upcoming edition in 2024. This alteration, which was successfully tested during the 2023-24 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, India's domestic T20 tournament, aims to give bowlers a greater range of options and add an element of surprise for batsmen.
One player who has welcomed this new rule is Jaydev Unadkat, a veteran from Saurashtra who has set his base price at INR 50 lakh for the upcoming IPL 2024 auction.
Unadkat believes that this change could be a game-changer for bowlers, providing them with more strategic opportunities.
IPL Auction 2024: Kolkata Knight Riders
Purse Left: Rs 32.70 crore
Potential Players of Interest: Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Rachin Ravindra, Harshal Patel.
What KKR needs immediately is a couple of good pace bowlers, preferably one among Australia's Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins or Jos Hazlewood along with Harshal Patel, who is always a handy option.
IPL 2024 Auction: Gujarat Titans
Purse Left: Rs 38.15 crore
Potential Players of Interest: Shardul Thakur, Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, Azmatullah Omarzai.
Whatever they do, even Gujarat Titans fans would agree that there can't be a replacement of Hardik Pandya as a whole package. Shardul Thakur at best would be a 50 to 60 percent replacement. Rachin Ravindra could be a choice but then Wriddhiman Saha, Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan will take first three spots in batting order.
Having proved their class while clinching the 2023 ODI World Cup in India in November, Australia’s famed pace trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood, and explosive opener Travis Head, who smashed a 120-ball 137 in the final against India, are likely to make the mega-bucks when some of the world’s top players go under the hammer in Dubai on Tuesday in the IPL 2024 auction.
IPL Auction 2024: Delhi Capitals
Purse Left: Rs 28.95 crore
Potential Players of Interest: Priyansh Arya, Harshal Patel, Shardul Thakur, Jos Inglis, Wanindu Hasaranga
Delhi Capitals' weakest link is their Indian collection of batters and poor is under-statement for the kind of assortment they have got right now. Delhi state team opener Priyansh Arya, who played some whirlwind knocks during the SMAT T20, and two unknown but highly talked-about youngsters from UP -- Sameer Rizvi and Swastik Chikkara could be keenly watched. The duo was brilliant in the UPCA T20 league.
On a tacky Feroze Shah Kotla track, Harshal Patel is a seasoned campaigner, whose slower ones could cause damage.
The Indian cricket board (BCCI) has earmarked March 22 to May-end as the window to conduct IPL-2024. The exact dates of the T20 league will be finalised after taking into account the dates of the General Elections in the country next summer. The fact that most of the boards have made their players available, despite the tournament being followed immediately by the T20 World Cup from June 4-30 in the Caribbean and the US, is something that reflects the pull of the cash-rich league.
IPL Auction 2024: Chennai Super Kings
Purse Left: Rs 31.4 crore
Potential Players of Interest: Shardul Thakur, Manish Pandey, Josh Hazlewood
Shardul Thakur was earlier with the CSK and is a seasoned Indian campaigner, who can bowl at death and chance his arms coming in at No. 8. CSK could go up to Rs 10 crore and upwards for Shardul.
They would also look at an Indian batter to replace Ambati Rayudu and may look at veteran Manish Pandey for bargain buy as there aren't too many experienced Indians listed in the auction roster. If they want to bolster the pace department then Josh Hazlewood is an option.
The mini auctions in the IPL have consistently captivated audiences due to the high demand and limited supply of players, particularly in terms of quality Indian talent. This setting often results in eye-catching deals for players who might have faced challenges garnering attention in a mega auction scenario.
