“When did I cry?” he said with a laugh. “My eyes were hurting. I looked at the screen after getting out, and the bright light made me blink a lot. People thought I was crying, but I wasn’t , the lights just got to my eyes.”
The young batter has certainly let his bat do the talking. He announced his arrival with a 20-ball 34, smashing seasoned bowlers like Avesh Khan and Shardul Thakur for sixes. In six matches so far, Suryavanshi has racked up 195 runs at a strike rate of 219.1 and an average of 32.5, remarkable numbers for someone his age.
Though Rajasthan Royals are out of playoff contention after a tough campaign and their latest defeat to Punjab Kings in Jaipur, Suryavanshi’s emergence has been a silver lining. His fearless intent and natural flair suggest he’s here to stay, and fans will be eagerly watching how this cricketing prodigy evolves in the seasons to come.
