NEW DELHI: The IPL 2025 match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) witnessed a fiery moment as tempers flared between spinner Digvesh Rathi and SRH batter Abhishek Sharma in the 8th over of the innings.
The dramatic incident occurred when Rathi dismissed a red-hot Abhishek Sharma for a blistering 59 off just 20 balls.
Sharma, who had been toying with the bowlers, looked to launch a wide googly over the off-side but ended up slicing it to sweeper cover, where Shardul Thakur took a sharp running catch.

Rathi, known for his signature “book-sign” celebration, pulled it out once again after getting the breakthrough.
But this time, it didn’t sit well with Sharma. The southpaw appeared visibly agitated and exchanged heated words with the bowler before umpires and teammates quickly stepped in to defuse the situation.

At the time of Sharma's dismissal, SRH were cruising at 99 runs, looking set to chase down LSG’s challenging 205-run target. His aggressive knock, laced with four boundaries and six towering sixes, had given SRH a blazing start in reply to a solid LSG total.
Earlier in the game, fifties from Mitchell Marsh (65) and Aiden Markram (61) powered LSG to a flying start. However, the middle overs dragged down their momentum, especially after the dismissal of skipper Rishabh Pant for just 7. Nicholas Pooran’s late blitz (45 off 26) pushed them past the 200-run mark.
Despite the on-field tension, fans were buzzing over the Sharma-Rathi face-off, with clips of the altercation going viral online. In a high-stakes IPL clash, emotions were bound to spill over—and in Lucknow, they certainly did.
