"Head Coach Rahul Dravid, who picked up an injury while playing Cricket in Bangalore, is recovering well and will join us today in Jaipur," the IPL franchise shared on social media, along with a photo showing Dravid wearing a cast on his left leg.

Dravid has a long history with the Royals, having spent five seasons with the team from 2011 to 2015. He started his coaching journey with the franchise in 2014, transitioning from team captain to mentor.

The former India head coach recently made an unexpected return to cricket, playing alongside his son Anvay in a KSCA Group I, Division III league match in the Nassur Memorial Shield on February 22.

The father-son duo represented Vijaya Cricket Club (Malur) against Young Lions Club at the SLS Kreedangana cricket ground in Bengaluru. Dravid batted at number six, scoring 10 runs off eight balls before being dismissed by spinner AR Ullas.

In the semifinal match against Jayanagar Cricketers, Dravid joined his son Anvay when their team was struggling at 12/3. Despite showing signs of discomfort in his leg, he continued playing and formed a 43-run partnership with his son over 66 balls.

The 52-year-old cricket legend had to be helped off the field due to his injury. However, his determined effort couldn't prevent Vijaya Cricket Club from losing the semifinal match.

Before arriving in Jaipur, Dravid attended Rajasthan Royals' pre-season camp in Guwahati. He will be present in the dugout for the team's IPL 2025 opening match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on March 23.

Rajasthan Royals achieved their only IPL title in the inaugural 2008 season and reached the finals again in 2022. Under Sanju Samson's leadership, the team finished third in the 2024 league stage but was eliminated by Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2.
