Indian Premier League 2025 has been shocking, to say the least, from the Rajasthan Royals (RR's) perspective, considering their inability to pull off a win in the easiest of situations. RR had finished third last season, making it to the playoffs. However, their chances of featuring in the IPL 2025 playoffs seem nearly done and dusted following the defeat by 11 runs against RCB. On the other hand, the Gujarat Titans (GT) have been absolutely unstoppable this season after failing to make their presence felt in IPL 2024.
With the race for the IPL 2025 playoffs heating up massively, here's a look at what each franchise needs to do to finish among the top four:

GT currently have 12 points. RR, SRH, MI, DC, LSG and CSK will be their opponents in the remaining matches.
2) DC: The Delhi-based franchise has earned 12 points in eight matches with a NRR of 0.657. DC similarly need to pull off two wins in six matches for sealing a spot in the playoffs. The Axar Patel-led side will face RCB, KKR, SRH, PBKS, GT and MI in the remaining league stage matches.
3) RCB: The Rajat Patidar-led side is in a strong position following the impressive win against RR. Currently third on the points table, RCB have 12 points from nine matches. Two wins in the remaining five matches will be enough from the playoff perspective. DC, CSK, LSG, SRH and KKR will be RCB's opponents in the upcoming league stage matches.
4) MI: The Hardik Pandya-led franchise currently has 10 points in nine matches, having pulled off four consecutive wins. Three wins in the remaining five matches will hold MI in good stead considering the positive NRR of 0.673. MI will face LSG, RR, GT, PBKS and DC in their remaining matches.
5) PBKS & LSG: The two teams are currently placed on the fifth and sixth spots in the IPL 2025 points table. PBKS have earned 10 points in eight matches while LSG have 10 points in nine matches. PBKS will target three wins in their remaining six matches while the road gets tougher for LSG who will need to pull off three wins in five matches. PBKS's NRR stands at 0.177 while LSG have a comparatively inferior NRR of -0.054.

6) KKR: The Ajinkya Rahane-led franchise will need something special to seal a spot in the playoffs, considering KKR have earned just six points after eight matches. KKR will target five wins in their remaining six matches, though six triumphs may well be necessary considering the immense competition. The Kolkata-based franchise is set to face PBKS, DC, RR, CSK, SRH and RCB in upcoming encounters.
7) RR, SRH and CSK: All three teams have earned just four points so far, indicating their poor campaigns so far. While SRH and CSK have played eight matches so far, RR have played nine matches. All three teams have a terrible NRR of -1.361, -1.392 and -0.625, respectively. Even five wins in as many matches could prove insufficient for RR with regard to sealing a spot in the playoffs. SRH and CSK need to win their remaining six matches at any cost. Both teams will face off today at Chennai's Chepauk Stadium, making the encounter a do-or-die match for both sides.
