NEW DELHI: England all-rounder Liam Livingstone was acquired by Royal Challengers Bengaluru for a whopping Rs 8.75 crore during the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday.

Known for his hard-hitting finishing role, Livingstone has been an integral part of England's white-ball teams for quite some time now.

He has scored 939 runs in the IPL at a strike rate of 162.45, including six fifties, representing two teams in the cash-rich league - Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings.

Livingstone is a modern-day T20 specialist, playing in various leagues around the world like the IPL, Big Bash League, and SA20. He was bought for a staggering Rs 11.5 crore in the 2022 IPL auction by Punjab Kings and delivered for them that season, scoring 437 runs at an average of 36.42 and a mind-boggling strike rate of 182.08, including four fifties.

Overall, in 291 T20s, Livingstone has scored 6,649 runs at an average of 28.05 and with a strike rate of 144.44, with the help of two hundreds and 25 fifties. He is known for his big-hitting abilities, having smoked 404 sixes in the format. He has hit 66 sixes in just 39 IPL matches, true to his finishing capabilities.

With his handy spin-bowling abilities, he has also grabbed 126 wickets in the format, showcasing his all-round utility. He also has 11 wickets to his name in the IPL.

The 31-year-old will be a massive threat to any bowling attack in the league, with his big-hitting power especially effective in the late stages of the games.
