NEW DELHI: The Indian Premier League's Governing Council will meet on March 30 in the Capital to take stock of the situation before the tournament starts from April 5 onwards. According to sources, IPL chairman

Rajeev Shukla

would be a part of the meeting along with CEO Rahul Johri and take a few important calls related to the event.

Sources said that this meeting will be taking place under the supervision of the

Committee of Administrators

(CoA). However, it was not made clear if CoA chairman Vinod Rai will be a part of the meeting or not. It was also revealed that Johri hasn't set any agenda for the meeting, but the BCCI is supposed to discuss a few pending issues.

"Since the IPL GC didn't meet for a long time, this meeting would decide the roadmap for the event and how to make this year's tournament bigger than last year. The board members could also discuss the retention policy informally and discuss the blue print for the IPL media rights, which would be up for the grabs after the tournament gets over," a top BCCI official said.

In the last IPL workshop, which took place in February, it was decided that all the eight teams would get a chance to stage an opening ceremony with their first home game. The team owners were quite satisfied that none of the high-flying board officials were there which made them feel that the league also belongs to them. "Now that the board officials are allowed nine years each in BCCI and state units, a lot of the officials would try to enroll in the GC in the days to come. But the executive power would be with the CoA till the fresh BCCI elections," another source added.
