'Ravindra Jadeja has to be there': Suresh Raina warns CSK amid blockbuster IPL trade buzz with Rajasthan Royals

NEW DELHI: As the IPL trade window heats up, rumours of a blockbuster swap deal involving Ravindra Jadeja, Sanju Samson, and Sam Curran have sent the cricket world into overdrive. While no official confirmation has been made, reports suggest that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are exploring a potential three-player exchange ahead of the retention deadline.

As TimesofIndia.com has reported, CSK could acquire Sanju Samson in a trade that would see Jadeja and Curran move to Rajasthan — provided both franchises agree on terms. However, the possibility of CSK parting ways with one of their longest-serving stalwarts has not gone down well with fans and former players alike.


Leading the chorus is Suresh Raina, one of CSK’s greatest icons, who has publicly urged the franchise not to trade Jadeja under any circumstances. Speaking on JioStar, Raina delivered a strong message to the management while naming his preferred retention picks.


“Noor Ahmad should be retained. He’s a mystery spinner, so he must be kept. MS Dhoni should definitely be retained; he is playing this year, so he should remain with the team. Ruturaj Gaikwad should continue as captain. Ravindra Jadeja should be retained again. He is a gun player for CSK. He has done really, really well for the team over the years, so ‘Sir Ravindra Jadeja’ has to be there,” Raina said.

The former India star also listed a few names he believes CSK should release before the mini-auction.

“Devon Conway should be released. CSK need a local opener, which they will look for in the mini-auction. Vijay Shankar has already received plenty of chances. So I think CSK should release him as well. Deepak Hooda should be released too,” Raina added.

Meanwhile, reports suggest RR and CSK have rekindled their discussions after a failed trade attempt between RR and Delhi Capitals for Samson and Tristan Stubbs. With Jadeja’s future at CSK uncertain, insiders reveal that franchise officials have already reached out to the all-rounder to “gauge his plans.”
