NEW DELHI: Sanjiv Goenka, the co-owner of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), found himself at the centre of a social media storm after a video showing his exit from the team’s balcony went viral on Monday.
The incident occurred during LSG’s crunch IPL 2025 game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Ekana Stadium.
The flashpoint came in the 12th over of the innings when Rishabh Pant, promoted to No. 3 in a must-win game, was dismissed for just seven runs.

Goenka, clearly disappointed, stormed out of the balcony, an action that was quickly picked up by cameras and exploded across social media.
Fans were quick to react, with many criticising Goenka’s public show of frustration and calling it unsportsmanlike.

Pant’s form this season has been a concern, having scored only 135 runs from 12 matches at an average of just over 12. His poor shot selection in such a crucial game only amplified the backlash.
While Pant flopped once again, Mitchell Marsh (65) and Aiden Markram (61) had given SRH a flying start, hammering the LSG bowlers in the powerplay.
Despite efforts from Nicholas Pooran (45) to push the total beyond 200, LSG's momentum dipped sharply in the middle overs.
