NEW DELHI: Royal Challengers Bangalore's left-arm pacer David Willey got into the act early on as he got rid of Kolkata Knight Riders opener Venkatesh Iyer first followed by Mandeep Singh during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday.

The eventful fourth over of the KKR innings eventually turned out to be the double-wicket maiden for Willey.

Willey knocked over Iyer's stumps on a short of length delivery just outside off which came back sharply but the batter, who tried to punch it off the backfoot, was beaten all ends up.

Charged-up Willey unleashed another peach of a delivery up next which hit Mandeep's off-stump who had no clue whatsoever. The ball was pitched on the leg stump and the KKR batter got forward to defend it but it moved away sharply to beat the edge before hitting the wicket.

Earlier, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and asked KKR to bat first.

Willey replaced injured pacer Reece Topley in the RCB playing XI while KKR brought in Suyash Sharma in place of Anukul Roy.
