STRATEGIC BREAK! Punjab Kings have gone about their business with a good mix of caution and aggression and will be quite pleased with the foundation their openers have laid. As the ball gets older and loses its hardness, shot-making could become more difficult, and that's where the solid start will come in handy. As for KKR, Varun Chakaravarthy and Sunil Narine will be key in this middle phase as they look to put the brakes on the scoring and create pressure through wickets.

The head coach of the Punjab Kings, Ricky Ponting, is in for a chat. Ponting says he is happy with how the openers play with the intent the team wants. Mentions that Priyansh Arya has been the find of the tournament and so far, he has not let them down. Ponting believes Arya has a bright future ahead. Talking about the conditions, Ponting points out that the wicket is very dry and the breeze could keep the dew away. He expects the wicket to slow down as the match goes on. Looking ahead, he says Dharamsala could be very different from what they experienced in Mullanpur and expects the ball to come onto the bat nicely there. Ponting feels those conditions will suit his team better.
