MI vs PBKS Highlights, IPL 2026: Prabhsimran Singh, Shreyas Iyer power Punjab Kings to 7-wicket win over Mumbai Indians

MI vs PBKS Live Score, IPL 2026: Quinton de Kock’s record-breaking third IPL century went in vain as Punjab Kings produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat Mumbai Indians by seven wickets and move to the top of the table. De Kock, playing his first match for Mumbai since 2021 in place of the injured Rohit Sharma, struck an unbeaten 112 off 60 balls to anchor a total of 195/6.

IPL 2026: Points Table | Schedule

He shared a crucial 122-run stand for the third wicket with Naman Dhir, who converted a reprieve after being dropped by Yuzvendra Chahal into a fluent half-century. De Kock’s innings featured eight fours and seven sixes, as he became the first overseas batter to score hundreds for three different IPL teams.

Punjab, however, clawed back late in the innings through Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen, while a sensational relay catch involving Shreyas Iyer and Xavier Bartlett accounted for Hardik Pandya.

In reply, Punjab lost an early wicket but Prabhsimran Singh counterattacked brilliantly, smashing 80 not out off 39 balls, including 11 fours. Alongside him, Shreyas Iyer registered his third consecutive fifty as the pair dismantled the chase with a 139-run stand. Mumbai’s attack, led by an ineffective Jasprit Bumrah who went wicketless again, had no answers as Punjab cruised home with overs to spare.

MI vs PBKS, IPL 2026: Arshdeep Singh | Player of the Match
It feels really good. And it goes back to having a chat with Ricky in one of the training sessions. I told him I wasn't feeling the way I should feel, the ball is not coming out of my hand really well. And we had a nice peptalk with him. And it felt really well after that. The clear mindset he gave me in that chat. And even yesterday I came for training and I had a nice spot bowling session. And that was the time when I felt like the ball is coming out really nicely out of my hand. And the result was in front of you guys today.

The ball was seaming a bit, the ball was swinging and the control was there. (on that chat with Ricky Ponting) Yeah, nothing technically, it was just how I can keep myself fresh mentally and how I was just expecting too much out of myself and not letting things to be simple and just going by the flow. Because he told me, you're coming off a high winning a World Cup and it's not easy to maintain that high all the time. So you just got to stick to the basics and have fun.

That's the most important part of the game. Just enjoy it and stick to your basics. (on getting Rickelton with a wobble-seam ball) That's the ball I've been trying to work on. Saw Siraj got a lot of wickets with a scrambled seam. Still not there yet, but still trying to learn it as much as I can as a variation. And yeah, the seam was coming out really nice. I just wanted to change it a bit. Wasn't the way I wanted to get him out, but yeah, as a bowler in T20, you should take... whatever comes your way and just enjoy it. (on the wide yorker and the pace-off at the end) I mean, wide yorkers I have been bowling a lot. I mean, the wides I'm bowling a lot lately, but the plan is simple.

If the batters are set, if the boundaries are huge on one side, you just use that boundary and make sure they don't hit towards the shorter part and towards what their strength is. So that's the plan. And sometimes when you back yourself, you feel like the yorker is coming out nicely, then you attack the stumps. And the batter is new, you attack the stumps. When the batter is set, you go wide. So you've just got to be sure always that you adapt before the batters knows what's coming. So that's the mindset and that's the planning and the team backs me always.

(on the crowd support for them here) Yeah, loved the support and a lot of credit goes to my social media. I love making reels and I love posting on social media. So a lot of them know me by making reels. So I love it and I'll keep doing that for them. They have some fun watching that and I enjoy it as well. (we might see this then on social media tomorrow?) Sure thingy, you'll see a lot of reels coming.

MI vs PBKS, IPL 2026: Shreyas Iyer | PBKS captain
Certainly confident and optimistic going forward. I think the way we've been playing so far, it's phenomenal. And also at the same time, you've got our heads on our shoulders. We know that each and every game that we're going to come on to the field, it's going to be important for us as a team and as a unit.

So it's a collective effort overall and I'm glad that today we came up and we got that comprehensive victory. (on Prabhsimran) I think he has certainly raised up his bar, considering the last season where he was going in the power play, just swinging wild. Even though getting runs, he was giving us excellent starts. But this time I feel that, you know, he's got that maturity to finish off the game. And it's great to see youngsters coming up and finishing off the games, taking the responsibility and saying that, okay, I'm going to win the match for the team.

So phenomenal player, talent, and other than that, I feel that the more matches he's getting, he's actually getting mature more and more. (on restricting MI) I think my catch (laughs). No, but obviously, we've got this tendency of pulling back the game, even against SRH the way we bowled after the powerplay, the guys came in together and said that, okay, we are going to see to it that, negate the boundaries as much as possible and be in the present and enjoy the moment rather than thinking way ahead of the game.

(on how they will deal if they are going to bat first) Honestly speaking, we haven't decided about that as of now. I've been lucky to win the tosses so far. And, you know, always up for the challenge, batting first. We've got the batting lineup and a lot of positive players in the team who are ready for the opportunity to go out there and express themselves. (on getting better as a team) I personally feel you need to keep getting better each and every game. Just trying to challenge yourself rather than focusing on the opponents, what they bring onto the table. And that's what we've been doing. That's the recipe we've been following so far.

So yes, as long as we are going to continue with the same recipe and it gets us success, I'm very happy. (more people now buying into the PBKS franchise?) Certainly, I've seen crowd coming in numbers and the way they've been cheering for the last couple of games. I think the fan-following is definitely going high and it's so good to see people coming in numbers and cheering for us, supporting and showering their love.

MI vs PBKS, IPL 2026: Prabhsimran Singh
I was just believing in myself because the powerplay I didn't get many balls to play. So I was counting the number of balls in the starting. I think I was played 6-7 balls in the powerplay. But then in my mind I thought that if I take a little longer, I will be able to play. So I kept believing in myself that I will do it and I did it. (on his maturity in batting this season) Absolutely sir, I worked a lot. Actually, in the off-season, I worked a lot with Yuvi paaji (Yuvraj Singh).

So whenever I talk to him, he says that you have a lot of time, you can play a little longer. So I just had this in mind that if I play till the end, then I can win it. (on facing Ghazanfar) I thought for the spinners that if I don't give them wickets as the ball was gripping, if I don't give wickets to them, then it will be easier against the others.

(You attack from the start) At the start as we are chasing 200 scores we need to cash in the powerplay. But sometimes it happens that the wickets aren't like today. So then taking it long is important too. (on Shreyas Iyer) Our captain is very good. As a captain, when he talks, he gives us clarity. And he himself is playing such good batting. So it becomes easy to play with him.

MI vs PBKS, IPL 2026: Hardik Pandya | MI captain
"To be very honest, I don't have much to say right now. I think we really need to go back on the drawing board and see where are we lacking. Is it individuals? Is it as a group? Is it as planning? We'll just figure it out and see what we can do next. (20-50 short?) I think you need to give credit to them as well. The ball started reversing, and at that same point of time, the wicket was.. the dew didn't come. In the second inning, the dew came and it slightly got better, but having said that, they just outbeated us. They bowled better, they batted better, they fielded better, definitely, and that costed us the game. We really need to see, do we need to make some difficult calls or do we need to keep continuing and hope that we'll turn things around. These are some hard questions which eventually we need to answer and yeah, ownership has to be taken."

MI vs PBKS Live Score, IPL 2026: STAT ATTACK
This is the third successive victory for PBKS over MI.

Five games without defeats are PBKS's joint-longest streak to kick off an IPL season; they had started their 2014 campaign with five straight wins.

Punjab Kings continued their dominant run in the Indian Premier League with a commanding seven-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians on Thursday, handing the hosts a fourth straight defeat. Despite a towering effort from Quinton de Kock, who smashed an unbeaten 112, and a gritty 50 from Naman Dhir, Mumbai’s total of 195/6 proved insufficient on a placid Wankhede surface.

De Kock, returning to the XI in place of injured skipper Rohit Sharma, anchored the innings with a fluent 60-ball century, while Dhir provided strong support in a 132-run third-wicket stand that revived MI from early trouble. However, the momentum stalled in the final overs as Punjab’s bowlers kept things tight.

The chase, however, was a one-sided affair. Prabhsimran Singh punished a wayward Mumbai attack, including an ineffective spell from Jasprit Bumrah (0/41), after being given an early reprieve. He tore into the bowling with a blistering unbeaten 80 off just 31 deliveries, striking 11 fours and two sixes.

At the other end, skipper Shreyas Iyer continued his rich vein of form, registering his third successive fifty with a composed 66 off 35 balls. Together, the duo added a decisive 139-run stand for the third wicket, effectively ending the contest.

Despite brief resistance from Allah Ghazanfar, who picked up 2/31, Mumbai’s bowling unit failed to apply sustained pressure. Punjab eventually coasted home in just 16.3 overs, finishing at 198/3 with 21 balls to spare and reaffirming their status as one of the tournament’s most dominant sides.

MI vs PBKS Live Score, IPL 2026: It's all over! Punjab Kings beat Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets
A fourth consecutive defeat this season for Mumbai Indians, as Hardik Pandya shares a hug with Shreyas Iyer during the post-match handshakes.

The 196-run target proved to be well below par on a surface that only got easier under lights. Even 250 would not have tested a rampant Punjab Kings batting display, such was their dominance over the MI attack.

Jasprit Bumrah once again finished wicketless, while impact substitute Allah Ghazanfar provided early breakthroughs by removing Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly. But once Prabhsimran Singh got going, the tone of the chase changed completely.

Skipper Shreyas Iyer then took centre stage, starting with a crisp cover drive off his first delivery and never allowing MI any way back. His standout moment was a towering third-tier six off Shardul Thakur that summed up Punjab’s authority. Dew further aided the chase, but the game was effectively sealed once Iyer and Prabhsimran combined, with their partnership dismantling the MI attack and taking the contest away long before the finish line.

MI vs PBKS Live Score, IPL 2026: OUT! Iyer falls, but Punjab still on top
BIG WICKET! It's too little, too less for Mumbai Indians. Naman Dhir takes a stunning catch diving forward to dismiss Shreyas Iyer (66) off Shardul Thakur.

Naman Dhir makes amends for an earlier drop with a sharp diving catch at deep mid-wicket. The round-the-wicket angle from Shardul Thakur does the trick as it brings about a breakthrough for Mumbai Indians.

It’s a half-volley on the pads, and Shreyas Iyer shuffles across to flick it away, but doesn’t get the elevation. The ball travels flat and low, and Dhir dives forward to complete a clean two-handed catch. He shows little celebration, but there’s relief in the Mumbai camp.

Big Wicket! In-form Cooper Connolly falls to Allah Ghazanfar in the powerplay

OUT! Caught behind by Quinton de Kock. A loud appeal, and de Kock is instantly confident. Umpire Mohit Krishnadas raises the finger. Connolly briefly checks with Prabhsimran Singh but opts against the review — a wise call, as UltraEdge later confirms a clear spike.

It’s fired in full and outside off, drawing Connolly into the drive. He’s slightly late on it, gets a faint edge, and de Kock completes a neat take behind the stumps.

BIG WICKET! AM Ghazanfar strikes in his first over, dismisses Priyansh Arya (15)

Caught by Deepak Chahar!! Allah Ghazanfar strikes with his second ball — just the breakthrough Mumbai Indians needed after an expensive start.

It’s flighted but a touch too full, not allowing Priyansh Arya to get underneath the shot. He looks to whip it over mid-wicket but ends up hitting it straight to Chahar, who completes a simple catch.

MI vs PBKS Live Score, IPL 2026: That's it! Mumbai Indians 195/6 after 20 overs
A commendable recovery from Mumbai Indians after Arshdeep Singh struck twice in two balls to remove Ryan Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav early. However, a subdued finish — just 35 runs in the last four overs — prevented them from pushing past the 200-mark.

Promoted up the order, Naman Dhir joined forces with Quinton de Kock to first stabilise the innings and then accelerate, stitching together a 100-plus stand for the third wicket. Both reached their fifties, with de Kock going on to convert his into a superb century in his first game of the season, carrying his bat through the innings.

Yet, Mumbai couldn’t quite find the late surge they needed, thanks to disciplined death bowling from Marco Jansen, Arshdeep and Vijaykumar Vyshak, who executed their variations effectively. It looks like a competitive total, but Punjab Kings will back themselves to chase it down.

BOWLED! Arshdeep Singh cleans up Sherfane Rutherford for 1.

Bowled him! Absolute peach. Sherfane Rutherford has no answer to that — pure precision.

He faced five balls, all pinpoint yorkers, and this one was the perfect finish. It tailed in late, Rutherford tried to clear his front leg, but the ball sneaked past the inside edge and crashed into middle stump. Nothing he could have done against that level of execution.

Stunning effort — surely a contender for catch of the season! Even the Mumbai Indians dugout, led by Rohit Sharma, is left in disbelief, while Shreyas Iyer soaks in the applause from the crowd.

Jansen takes the pace off and angles it across, forcing Hardik into a mistimed big shot. The ball skies towards long-on, where Iyer sprints to his left, leaps sideways and reverse-cups it mid-air before flicking it up to Bartlett while still airborne — a breathtaking relay catch.

BIG WICKET! Shashank Singh gives Punjab Kings a big breakthrough and ended the swelling stand between Naman Dhir and Quinton de Kock. Shashank dismisses Dhir for 50.

Shashank does it again — he has a habit of breaking partnerships, just like he did against SRH when he removed Abhishek and Head in the same over. This time, he ends a crucial stand by dismissing a well-set Dhir. Caught by Xavier Bartlett.

It’s on a length outside off, and Dhir goes for the lofted hit on the up, but mistimes it slightly, hitting it flat towards long-off where Bartlett takes a safe catch.

IPL 2026, MI vs PBKS Live Score: Rohit, Santner miss out
"We would have loved to bowl first as well, but yeah, good toss to lose. (But time to make a move?) Yes, time to play some good cricket, time to get that W win. So, yes, I think we played decent cricket. It's just that in a couple of overs, we have not been able to capitalize and we have been kind of losing those big moments. And we're just gonna speak about that and just make sure that in this game, we come out there and make sure that those little battles, we keep winning it. Yes, I think last game, we went for four 20+ overs. I think at any point of time in T20 cricket, that's not acceptable. So, as a group, we are aware, as a group, we are aware of what it requires us to kind of contain those overs and not let them slide away and have them big overs. And yeah, we have spoken about it. We have kind of planned about it. Let's see how it goes today. (What's the injury news because you've been plagued by some injuries?) Yeah, Rohit is out from the last game. He's gonna take a couple of games for him to see exactly where he is. And Mitchell is unwell as well. So Mitchell Santner also is not available. So, yeah, we got a couple of changes. Quinny comes back and we have a debutant, Mayank Rawat." - MI skipper Hardik Pandya at the toss

IPL 2026, PBKS vs MI Live Score: TOSS TIME!
Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer wins the toss, opts to bowl against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede stadium.

"We are going to bowl first. (Talks about the team) Yeah, so far so good. I think we've got a brilliant start in the IPL. That's what any captain desires to have, especially at the start of the season and our combination has been splendid throughout the season. So I feel that we just have to create the rhythm and maintain the momentum. I just ask everyone from the team that they should stick to the present and see to it that they are intent and they are proactive throughout. You know, it's easy to get complacent at times, but this game is a fast-paced game and you have to be in the game, in your zone throughout. So that's what I keep telling them every now and then. Looks a bit dry, but I interacted with a few of the players. They said that with the dew coming in, it gets better and better. So based on that, I made that decision. We're going with the same team," PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer after winning the toss.

IPL 2026, MI vs PBKS Live Score: Priyansh Arya in pre-match conversation
"I am very excited. The kind of fanbase MI has, mostly all the supporters are seen in blue, so it will be a lot of fun if we beat MI here. (on his plan when batting) There is no such plan, I just see how the wicket is behaving and according to that I make my plan on the wicket - like which bowler we can target and against whom we can take singles and doubles. (on preparing against Bumrah) The more I keep it simple, the more it will help me. If I think too much, then obviously he is a world-class bowler and he is always one step ahead of the batsman, so I will try to keep it as simple as possible. (on batting with Prabhsimran) That depends on the game - how the game is going, what the target is, if we are batting first then it is different, so according to the game we keep talking about all these things, that helps us a lot. (your expectations for tonight) Just to help the team win."

IPL 2026, PBKS vs MI Live Score: Marcus Stoinis ahead of the match
"Oh, tonight's feeling, obviously, to start the tournament well, that's what every team's after. But equally, we've spoken about what a dangerous team we're playing tonight. And they've been champions of this tournament for quite a few years. And they're always hard to beat here. So we're looking forward to the challenge. (on being ready as he has not had much to do this season) Yeah, I think that's a good point. It feels like you're understanding that role that the season might be quiet, but you might have a few moments where you have to step up for the team. So personally, I just do my training and I'm just thinking and getting ready for those moments, really, and looking forward to them more than anything. (challenges of bowling here) Yeah, I think it'll be interesting to see what this wicket plays like.Obviously, it's been very high scoring at the start of the tournament. We watched their game that they played last, only a few days ago. That seemed very hard for the bowlers, obviously. So, it seems like you're going to have to go to that death style bowling quite early. But hopefully, you're brave enough at the start to get a little bit of movement to take a few wickets, which might put teams under pressure. But it's just about adapting as fast as you can and trying to figure out a plan that works. (how does the team keep the focus?) Look, I think you enjoy the fact that you're unbeaten. You enjoy the atmosphere of the team, the whole atmosphere of the group at the moment. It's on fire. And then you also respect every team you're playing because you know this top competition. There's so many good players around that any team can beat anyone on any day. So, you respect that and you know what you need to do. And I think the fact that we've played well, but we know why we've played well. I think that's another thing to just keep focusing on."

IPL 2026, MI vs PBKS Live Score: Wankhede Pitch Report
"Well, always gorgeous to be here in Mumbai, and I've got to say, the weather has been outstanding, not a cloud in the sky. When you think of dimensions, we know it's not the biggest ground going around, so I'm batting here from the southern end. To my right is 61 metres, to my left is 67, and straight back at the sightscreen is only 75 metres. Now then, Aussie pitch doctor Michael Clarke. This looks all right. Danny, beautiful conditions again. That sun's magnificent. This pitch is always magnificent. Great for batting. What I love when you come to Mumbai is you get that extra bit of grass coverage. It just keeps the pace in the wicket, particularly with the brand new ball. For the quicks, you get that speed, but then batting, it's perfect. The ball comes on nicely. This wicket hasn't been used this season yet in the IPL, but was used through the T20 World Cup. I think it's gonna be good for batting. I think both teams will want to chase. I think it's gonna be high-scoring." - Danny Morrison and Michael Clarke

MI vs PBKS Live Score, IPL 2026: A historic yet ultimately losing effort from Quinton de Kock was overshadowed by a ruthless chase from Punjab Kings, who overpowered Mumbai Indians by seven wickets at the Wankhede. De Kock’s unbeaten 112 off 60 balls marked his third IPL century for three different franchises, a rare feat achieved in his first appearance of the season in place of injured former skipper Rohit Sharma.

IPL 2026: Points Table | Schedule

Mumbai had recovered from a shaky start through a commanding 122-run partnership between de Kock and Naman Dhir. Dhir, dropped early by Yuzvendra Chahal, capitalised with a composed fifty, allowing de Kock to play the dominant role. The South African’s innings was a blend of power and placement, featuring eight fours and seven sixes, and kept Mumbai on track for a 200-plus total.

However, Punjab’s death bowling, spearheaded by Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen, ensured the momentum slowed dramatically. A stunning relay catch involving Shreyas Iyer and Xavier Bartlett to dismiss Hardik Pandya further lifted Punjab’s confidence.

The chase began explosively, with Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya taking 21 off the opening over. Even after early strikes from Afghanistan’s Allah Ghazanfar, Punjab never lost control. Prabhsimran’s blistering 80* off 39 balls set the tone, while Iyer’s third straight fifty provided the perfect support act.

The duo added 139 in just 67 balls, dismantling Mumbai’s attack led by a wicketless and expensive Jasprit Bumrah. Marcus Stoinis then finished the job calmly, sealing Punjab’s status as the only unbeaten side in the tournament.
