... Day 3, Session 3 ...

This has been a great counter-punch by the Kiwis! One would have thought that England could repeat their heroics but New Zealand did something that they lacked throughout this Test series - they were able to build a solid stand this time. It has been all about New Zealand in this session as they scored 88 runs in 30 overs but most importantly they still have 10 wickets in hand. Tom Latham and Devon Conway have managed to bat throughout the session and walk off the field after making their respective half-centuries. New Zealand now trail by 98 runs. They would now have some belief back in the dressing room, looking at the grit and determination of their opening pair. England were quite toothless with the ball. In total, 5 bowlers were used, including the spin attack of Jack Leach and Joe Root, although no one could find any breakthrough. England are still well ahead in the game. They would feel that they can put the hosts on the back foot here with a couple of early wickets.
