GQEBERHA (South Africa): Keshav Maharaj hit a rapid half-century as

South Africa

prospered on the second morning of the second Test against

Bangladesh

at St George's Park in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.


Maharaj made 55 not out as South Africa reached 384 for seven at lunch, adding 106 runs in 25 overs for the loss of two wickets.

Maharaj raced to his fourth Test half-century off 50 balls with four fours and three sixes.

He came in after Kyle Verreynne was bowled for 22 by

Khaled Ahmed

and almost immediately went on the attack, being severe on fellow left-arm spinner Taijul Islam, whose first ball of the day went for six.

Taijul, Bangladesh's best bowler on the first day, conceded 27 runs in six overs before switching ends and bowling

Wiaan Mulder

for 33 to end an 80-run seventh wicket partnership. Taijul had figures of four for 107.
