Salvi, who was Punjab's head coach for the past two seasons, guided the northern team to their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy title last season.

"Salvi has been offered a three-year contract recently at the BCCI's National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. If the results are good, he could be with the Indian women's team for a longer period," a source told TOI.

In the past, Salvi was the bowling coach of Oman. The 42-year-old, who played four ODIs in 2003 before injuries plagued his career, featured in 62 First-Class matches, 52 List-A matches and 19 T20 games for Mumbai. He also played for Delhi Daredevils in the IPL in 2009. He began his coaching career post retirement in 2018 when he became the head coach of Pondicherry in their maiden domestic season.

Interestingly, Aavishkar's older brother Omkar is the head coach of Mumbai, and guided the team to its 42nd Ranji Trophy title last month.
