The verbal duel has roots in Miandad accusing Afridi of being motivated by money when asked about Afridi's demand for a farewell match. When Miandad's comment was brought to Afridi's notice, he said, “Money has always been an issue with Javed Miandad. That's the difference between him and Imran Khan.”

In return, Miandad promptly accused Afridi of fixing matches. “I ask Afridi to swear upon his children that he has not thrown away matches. I have caught him myself,” the 59-year-old said on TV.

According to reports, Afridi will send a legal notice to Miandad for accusing him of match-fixing.
