Australia crush India by 10 wickets in women’s pink-ball test
Australia women's national cricket team defeated India women's national cricket team by 10 wickets in the one-off day-night Test on Sunday after dominating the match for three days.
Australia first bowled India out for 149 in their second innings and then easily chased the small target of 25 runs without losing a wicket.
The victory was also a special moment for Australian captain Alyssa Healy, who ended her Test career with a big win against India.
India resumed the third day at 105 for six. Pratika Rawal scored a fighting 63, while Sneh Rana added 30 runs to help India reach 132. However, the team could not build a strong partnership.
Rana was bowled by Ashleigh Gardner, which triggered a collapse in India’s batting. Australia soon wrapped up the innings, with Annabel Sutherland taking a good catch to dismiss Rawal and end India’s resistance.
Chasing just 25 runs, Australian openers Georgia Voll and Phoebe Litchfield comfortably completed the target in only 4.3 overs.
“We started well in T20Is with a series win, but could not continue the good work in ODIs and Tests but playing a full series in Australia was a good experience. The Pink Ball Test was a different challenge,” said India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur said after the match.
Her Australian counterpart Healy said: “Bouncing back from the T20 series defeat was unbelievable and proud of the bunch.
“I am going to sing that team song one last time, but happy to see this team going forward and get some good results. The last week or so has been amazing,” said Healy.
