CHENNAI:
Cricket South Africa
(
CSA
) and
New Balance South Africa
have come together to provide playing kits to the youth cricketers for their participation in the various National Age Group Weeks.
New Balance will provide cricket equipment for 56 boys and girls, while the South African board will extend their help for the needs of a further 120 players through their Player Performance Program.
A number of other children, who are going to their second week as they move up the age groups, benefited from a similar programme by New Balance last year. In all, a total of 243 players - boys and girls - from the
RPC
and Hubs programmes have been selected to represent their provincial teams in age group competitions.
"We all know that the cost of cricket equipment can be a hindering factor for any player trying to establish himself and creates additional financial burden on parents," said CSA general manager, cricket,
Corrie van Zyl.
"New Balance's contribution in ensuring these players from disadvantaged backgrounds get access to the best equipment and footwear is a wonderful gesture and will certainly have a positive impact on these players.
"Our thanks must go out to New Balance as a committed partner of CSA and the Proteas for keeping cricket development and Transformation high on their agenda," added Van Zyl.
