Suryakumar confirmed the details of his surgery through a social media post, stating: "Underwent surgery for a sports hernia in the lower right abdomen. Grateful to share that after a smooth surgery, I'm already on the road to recovery. Can't wait to be back."

He accumulated 717 runs across 16 innings, securing his position as the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament.
His last international appearance was during India's five-match T20I series against England, which concluded in early February. The timing of his surgery and recovery period coincides with India's ongoing five-match Test series against England.
