HYDERABAD: It has been a terrible season for Hyderabad as they suffered five consecutive losses in the six games they played thus far. With just one point in their bag, Hyderabad, who are facing the relegation threat, take on a rejuvenated Delhi in their final Ranji Trophy Group B encounter starting at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, here on Tuesday.
Languishing at the bottom of the table they must beat Delhi to avoid the humiliation of being relegated to the Plate group next season.
The hosts started off the season on a decent note as they managed to stave off the Tamil Nadu challenge in the opener at home. But an innings and 217 runs defeat against Mumbai in Mumbai got them into a free fall. They never recovered after the hammering from the Mumbaikars as they lost five successive matches, despite being in an advantageous position in a couple of games. They managed to take the first innings lead against Assam (home) and Andhra (away), but failed to capitalise on the advantage and crashed to outright defeats.
Delhi, who too were struggling due to injuries to several senior players, found their mojo back as they turned the tables on Mumbai to return to form with an 8-wicket win in their previous league match.
