A historic Ranji Trophy match between Assam and Services has set a new record as the shortest game in 63 years, concluding in just 90 overs at the Tinsukia District Sports Association Ground in Kachujan.

The first innings saw Assam dismissed for 103 runs in 17.2 overs, featuring remarkable performances by Arjun Sharma and Mohit Jangra.
Sharma claimed 5/46 while Jangra took 3/5, with both bowlers achieving hat-tricks in the same innings, a first in first-class cricket.
Services took a modest five-run lead, scoring 108 runs in 29.2 overs. Riyan Parag delivered his career-best bowling performance for Assam, taking 5 wickets for 25 runs, while Rahul Singh supported with four wickets.
Assam's second innings proved challenging as they were bowled out for 75 runs in 29.3 overs. Only three batsmen managed double-digit scores, with four players dismissed for ducks.
Services successfully chased down the target of 71 runs in 13.5 overs, losing just two wickets, both taken by Riyan Parag.
The match concluded in 90 overs, equivalent to 540 balls, with 25 wickets falling on the first day and the remaining seven on the second morning. This surpassed the previous record of 547 balls set in 1962 during a match between Delhi and Railways.
The record for the shortest first-class match remains with the Faisalabad versus Karachi Blues game in the 2004-05 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, lasting only 85 balls due to Karachi Blues forfeiting their first innings.
The shortest completed first-class match in history was played between Tasmania and Victoria in 1851, lasting 352 balls.
