"He has to now undergo some fitness tests in Lahore before he is cleared to take part in the PSL," the source said.
The source added that if the PCB medical panel believes Saim needs additional rest before returning to competitive cricket, they will prioritize his recovery over the PSL.
Saim, who impressed on tours of Australia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa with two centuries in the ODI series against South Africa, suffered an ankle fracture while fielding on the boundary on the first day of the second Test in January.
Following consultations with experts in London, the PCB decided he should complete his rehab there.
The source also mentioned that seasoned opener Fakhar Zaman has made good progress in his recovery from an injury sustained at the start of the Champions Trophy and is preparing for his return in the PSL.
