After Vijay was sent packing by left-arm pacer Akash Singh, captain Dinesh Karthik (48 off 30) accelerated the pace of the innings before Vijay Shankar (15 off 11) and Shahrukh Khan (16 off 13) pushed the total to a par score of 155. Apart from the 19-year-old Akash, another left-arm seamer Aniket Choudhary recorded respectable figures.

While chasing, Rajasthan were off to a poor start as wickets fell at regular intervals. Fast bowler Sai Kishore triggered the collapse, reducing Rajasthan to 23 for three in 4.5 overs. Manendra Singh (0 off 2), Ankit Lamba (5 off 7) and Aditya Garwal (9 off 14) were his victims. Highest scorer for Rajasthan, Lomror laboured to 32 off 36 before left-arm seamer Thangarasu Natarajan ended his defence. In the end, Rajasthan were left stranded at 116 in 20 overs.

In group B, Tamil Nadu and Vidarbha have two wins each from as many games.

Brief scores: Tamil Nadu 169 for 5 in 20 overs (Dinesh Karthik 48, N Jagadeesan 48, Akash Singh 4/26) beat Rajasthan 116 for 8 in 20 overs (Mahipal Lomror 32, R Sai Kishore 3/19).
