JAIPUR: Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) senior selection committee on Thursday announced a 20-member squad for the upcoming
Vijay Hazare Trophy
that is scheduled to begin from December 8.
Deepak Hooda, who has joined the team as a professional this year, has been named as the captain in the absence of Ashok Menaria, who is nursing a back injury. Mahipal Lomror remains as the vice-captain.
The selectors have axed the non-performers Arjit Gupta, Ankit Lamba,
Yash Kothari, Aditya Garhwal, Abhimanyu Lamba and
Suraj Ahuja
. Rajasthan's performance in the one-dayers have been abysmal over the years, but this time with the team full of youngsters, the dynamics will be different.
It would be interesting to see how Hooda utilises the young talent. Among others, left-hand batsman Shubham Garhwal, who has been performing well since the Colvin Shield this year, is in great touch and should make it to the playing XI. Rajasthan is in Elite Group 'E' and will play their league matches in Ranchi.
