Medium-pacer Sagar Trivedi was the standout performer for Pondicherry - bagging figures of 4 for 18. He was well-supported by left-arm spinner Sagar Udeshi who took 2 for 15. "The wicket was a challenging one for us. The bowlers delivered the goods for us, and our lower-order showed character to get us past the finish line," skipper D Rohit told TOI.

A target of 108 was never going to be a daunting one but Pondicherry didn't have the best of starts. They lost half their side with just 48 on board in the 11th over. No. 6 Suresh Kumar (37 n.o.) provided the rearguard action with his 45-ball essay that contained five boundaries.

In the company of V Marimuthu, Suresh added 20 runs for the 6th wicket. He then added an unbroken 40-run stand for the seventh wicket with the experienced Vinay Kumar (20 n.o.) to help Pondicherry seal the deal in 23.5 overs. Vinay's run-a-ball innings had two fours in it. For the bowling side, Abhay Negi was the wrecker in chief - taking figures of 4 for 17. Pondicherry will next be locking horns against Mizoram on Friday.

Brief scores: Meghalaya 107 in 26.1 overs (Sagar Trivedi 4-18). Pondicherry 108-6 in 23.5 overs (Suresh Kumar 37; Abhay Negi 4-17). Pondicherry won by 4 wickets.
