NEW DELHI: Former India batsman Virender Sehwag has revealed that it was statemate Pradeep Sangwan who first told him of Virat Kohli saying the kid will surpass his records.
A curious Sehwag then wanted to know all about this up and coming superstar who is now the India Test captain. "It was Pradeep Sangwan who came and told me "Bhaiyaa, ek ladkaa hain jo aapko bhi peeche chhor dega" (Brother this boy will even surpass you). I was curious to know who this boy is," Sehwag said during an event here on Wednesday.

Reminiscing of his Ranji days with Delhi, Sehwag recalled a match where he was left mightily impressed by Kohli. "This was a match where Virat powerfully drove the ball. There was both long-on and long-off and yet the ball raced to the boundary and I knew he was talented. But he also remained humble all these years," he said.

India coach Anil Kumble, also present at the event, reckons that apart from being a terrific batsman and an inspirational leader, what sets Kohli apart is the fact that he doesn't shy away from admitting mistakes and is also eager to make amends. "I love the way he prepares for his matches," Kumble said.

"Not only does he lead by example but when he makes a mistake, he has the honesty to admit it. He (Virat) would come upto you and say 'Okay I have made a mistake. Can we discuss?' I believe when he will look back at his wonderful career, he will be really proud of his achievements," said India's highest wicket-taker in both formats.
