NEW DELHI: For most cricket fans, the two terms – ‘comical’ and ‘run-out’ – invariably will be attached to any cherished memory of former Pakistan captain

Inzaman ul Haq

’s many a failed attempt at running between the wickets. And since the big man’s retirement, such moments have come few and far between.

But, Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir brought back those memories with a hilarious run-out during day four of the third Test between Pakistan and West Indies being played at Sharjah.

Assuming that his well-timed hit towards the long-on fence off Devendra Bishoo would go the distance, Amir kept his posture for a while and then casually started walking towards non-striker Wahab Riaz to probably knock the gloves.

All this while, Roston Chase was putting in a spectacular effort in the deep. He caught the ball one-handed with a leaping dive and when he realised that he would fall over the ropes, Chase let the ball go and then proceeded to throw the ball.

Amir realised that fact a bit too late and made a dash to the non-striker end, he lost his bat mid-way, failed to make a proper dive and Chase’s near accurate throw was collected by Jason Holder and he didn’t take much time to disturb the stumps.
