Tristan Stubbs-led Sunrisers Eastern Cape will take on Keshav Maharaj’s Pretoria Capitals in the summit clash of the fourth edition of the SA20 at Newlands in Cape Town on Sunday.
This will be SEC’s fourth final in a row, while it will be the second final appearance for Pretoria Capitals. Sunrisers have won two titles so far, whereas Capitals, after finishing runners-up in the inaugural season, failed to qualify for the playoffs in the following editions.
Tristan Stubbs has plenty to prove heading into the final. As the only new leader in SA20 Season 4, Stubbs had big shoes to fill following Aiden Markram’s tenure. Stubbs has had a subdued campaign so far, scoring 129 runs from 11 matches at an average of 43, with a highest score of an unbeaten 47.

“But I’ve had good senior players. We bounce things off each other, but some days you are decisive and clear, and on other days you go with a gut feeling. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t,” he added.
Pretoria Capitals head coach Sourav Ganguly has urged his players to keep things simple in the final against the two-time champions.
“The final is another game. The key to winning finals and becoming champions is about winning games and keeping it simple. We have played Sunrisers in the group stage and the playoffs, and now the final. The team hasn’t changed,” Ganguly said.
“It’s only the situation that has changed. The process of winning cricket matches remains the same. Experience comes from playing over a long period of time, but for me it’s just another game where we need to play well to win.”
