South Africa vs Bangladesh Highlights, Women's World Cup 2025: South Africa beat Bangladesh by three wickets

South Africa vs Bangladesh Live Score, Women's World Cup 2025: Bangladesh have won the toss and have opted to bat against South Africa at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

Laura Wolvaardt: I probably would have bowled anyway. I don't mind that too much. I am thinking there will be a lot of dew later. So, it might be harder to grip the ball later and maybe come on to the bat a bit nicer. It was an amazing game of cricket. I think the group was really on a big high after that game. We spent the last couple of days coming back down to earth though. I think we still have a long way to go in this tournament. The game was incredible but I think like we have been saying, it is one game at a time and we can't take any game lightly or expect that to happen again. So, full refocus, full switch on today and hopefully we can put in another good performance. Not exactly (the same XI), we have two changes.

Nigar Sultana: We want to bat first because we have seen in the last few games, it was a kind of a wicket where your batters can give some runs. You want to bat first. This sort of wicket, if you can put some score on the board, it will actually help the bowlers and our bowlers have been playing well in this tournament. It was a small, short turnaround but we talked about it a lot. I think we are looking forward to coming strongly as a batting unit. We have two changes.

Teams:

South Africa Women (Playing XI): Laura Wolvaardt(c), Tazmin Brits, Anneke Bosch, Annerie Dercksen, Marizanne Kapp, Sinalo Jafta(w), Chloe Tryon, Nadine de Klerk, Masabata Klaas, Tumi Sekhukhune, Nonkululeko Mlaba

Bangladesh Women (Playing XI): Rubya Haider, Fargana Hoque, Sharmin Akhter, Nigar Sultana(w/c), Sobhana Mostary, Fahima Khatun, Shorna Akter, Nahida Akter, Rabeya Khan, Ritu Moni, Marufa Akter

Pitch and Conditions: "It is a little bit cooler today. There was some rain around. 28 degrees and not too hot. 59 and 54 meters square, 67 down the ground. It is a new pitch. I see three spots that you think were used before. It has been spin to win in this World Cup. Less than 75kph has been the speed to target. Wicket to wicket and your line is important. Bowl slow and bowl straight. They (Bangladesh) need to get enough runs for their spinners to come into the game," reckon Alan Wilkins and Carlos Brathwaite.

Lobbed and taken by the keeper! South Africa are confident but the finger stays down. Laura Wolvaardt sends it upstairs. Flat line on UltraEdge when the ball passes the gloves and the bat and it has come off the forearm but hang on. Here's the twist. The Ball Tracking comes up as three reds with the ball crashing into the off stump. The appeal was for caught behind but as it turns out, Fargana Hoque has been adjudged LBW.

Nonkululeko Mlaba to Fargana Hoque, OUT! LBW! What an unfortunate dismissal for Fargana Hoque. Lands it full and tosses it around middle and leg, does Mlaba. Fargana premeditates and sits down to sweep it away, but due to the extra bounce, the ball passes very close to the bat and the glove, but it lobs off the forearm, before Sinola Jafta collects it behind the stumps. An appeal for caught behind, but not given. The Proteas go upstairs for a review and the UltraEdge shows a flat line. But hang on, the third umpire checks for LBW and the Ball Tracking shows three reds with the ball projected to crash on the off pole. Fargana Hoque is in disbelief and departs for a sluggish 30 (76) and Bangladesh Women are 73/2.
