IND vs SL 2nd Test Day 1, Highlights: Bumrah, Shami sizzle under lights; Sri Lanka 86/6 at stumps, trail by 166 runs

A tight one-run over from Suranga Lakmal comes to an end. Shreyas Iyer (66*) is now batting along with Mohammed Shami and he will now be thinking to add some quick runs. Shreyas has been superb so far but has lacked support from the other end. It is now up to him, how he decided to go on from here on with just two wickets remaining.

Suranga Lakmal comes back into the attack and delivers straightaway. Axar Patel chops the ball back onto his stumps and walks back for 9. India are now 8 down with Shreyas Iyer still in the middle, batting on 60. Shreyas Iyer (37*) and R Ashwin (11*) have now added crucial 29 runs off 56 balls for the seventh wicket. With the flood lights steadily taking over, looks like the pitch has also settled down a bit. Both Shreyas and Ashwin looking a lot more in control now. A rollercoaster of an hour for India as they lost wickets of Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja but also added 84 in it.

Lasith Embuldeniya continues to trouble the batters but Shreyas Iyer (27*) is still hanging on firmly in the middle. R Ashwin (3*) too is doing his bit as India look to accumulate as many runs as possible on this rant turner. The Lankan spinners have been all over the India batters in these two and a half hours of play so far.

Lasith Embuldeniya is on a roll. He gets his third wicket of the innings. He continues to get sharp turn and bounce off the surface and this time Ravindra Jadeja was the victim. India are now 6 down and we have only witnessed just 37 overs in this clash.

What an over from Lasith Embuldeniya. Castles Rishabh Pant for 39 and then ends the over giving away a boundary to Ravindra Jadeja. India continue to totter in Bengaluru on this viscous turner. Rishabh was looking good but he misjudged the length from Embuldeniya and was in two minds whether to go for the drive or the cut shot. The ball spun in sharply and castled up all ends up. On the last ball of the over, Jadeja went for the drive against Embuldeniya but got a thick-ish outside edge and it went straight to the third-man fence.

They collect 13 runs from the Jayawickrama over. The way this pitch is behaving in Bengaluru, looks like it is not going to be a high scoring game. The India batters have realised that and they are looking to add as many runs as possible now before the pitch gets a lot more worse.

India were struggling at 93-4 at tea in the day-night Test against Sri Lanka on Saturday after the tourists' spinners took wickets at regular intervals. Rishabh Pant (16) and Shreyas Iyer (1) were at the crease at the end of the first session after India won the toss and skipper Rohit Sharma opted to bat first in front of a near-capacity crowd at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Mayank Agarwal was the first to be dismissed in bizarre fashion in the second over when the opener attempted a run while Sri Lanka were busy appealing for a leg-before-wicket. Rohit tried to send him back but Agarwal was too far down the pitch and was run out even as the umpire signalled a no ball. With the pacers having no luck, Sri Lanka switched to spin early and Lasith Embuldeniya struck in his second over, enticing Rohit (15) into a defensive shot and drawing an edge which was safely pouched in the slips by Dhananjaya de Silva. Rohit was playing in his 400th international game and his wicket ironically drew cheers from the Bengaluru crowd as it brought Virat Kohli -- former captain and the star of their Indian Premier League franchise -- to the crease. Left-arm spinner Praveen Jayawickrama also asked questions of the batsmen with his turn and he snared Vihari leg-before but the decision was overturned on review with replays showing the ball had narrowly missing the leg stump. Jayawickrama finally got his man with a rising delivery that turned and nicked Vihari's bat and he was caught by wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella for a patient 31. Sri Lanka brought on a third spinner in De Silva and he struck in his first over to trap Kohli (23) leg-before with a delivery that kept surprisingly low, silencing the home crowd as the umpire raised his finger. India lead the two-test series 1-0 after winning the first test in Mohali by an innings and 222 runs.

More trouble for Team India as Dhananjaya de Silva strikes in his first over at the stroke of Tea break. Virat Kohli is trapped right in front of the stumps for 23. A nothing ball from de Silva but it kept really really low. Kohli was in shell shock state as he didn't knew what just hit him. He makes the long walk back. Praveen Jayawickrama to bowl the final over before the break.

Praveen Jayawickrama breaks the Hanuma Vihari and Virat Kohli partnership as India are now 3 down with Tea break approaching. The second ball of the over from Jayawickrama got sharp turn and bounce and took the outside edge of Vihari's bat. A juggling act from keeper Niroshan Dickwella but he eventually completed the catch. Rishabh Pant has come in at No.5 and has started off aggressively, collecting back to back boundaries off Jayawickrama. So, 9 runs and a wicket in the 8th over from Jayawickrama.

Lasith Embuldeniya and Praveen Jayawickrama continue to ask questions but this Hanuma Vihari and Virat Kohli partnership has now moved to 47 off 100 balls. Just over 10 minutes to go for the Tea break!

A maiden from Praveen Jayawickrama and he almost got rid of Hanuma Vihari in the over. The fifth ball of the over was an arm ball that hit Vihari's pad and the on-field umpire ruled it in favour of the bowler. Vihari took the review immediately and ball-tracking confirmed that the delivery was comfortably missing the leg stump. Vihari survives with the help of a review in the Jayawickrama over as Lankan spinners continue to trouble India batters.

Its all happening for the Lankan spinners at the moment and we are only in Session 1 on Day 1 in this Pink-ball Test. Turn and bounce and balls keeping low as well. But both Hanuma Vihari and Virat Kohli showing solid technique against spinners Lasith Embuldeniya and Praveen Jayawickrama.

There was already turn available for the Lankan spinners on the first day itself and in the last over from Lasith Embuldeniya, the second ball also kept really low. Hanuma Vihari somehow got his bat down just in time to escape an LBW call. The pitch assisting the spinners really well but Vihari and Virat Kohli are up for the challenge.
