THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The West Indies players had run out of steam by the fifth ODI, admitted coach Stuart Law after the team's crushing loss here on Thursday. "In Vizag and Pune, we played two great games. Those games took a lot out of us, In the last match, we had no petrol left. We need to address that fitness issue and we have been trying to address it," said Law, who will step down as coach after Windies' tour of Bangladesh.

The failure of openers

Kieron Powell

and Chandrapaul Hemraj was the biggest disappointment for Law. "I think it was an opportunity missed. I would have thought in these batting paradises, they would have scored some more runs. They will anyway get three more games in Bangladesh," said Law.

Law said the batting unit failed to show application when it mattered in the final ODI. "It was tough initially but after that, it got easier. Samuels and Powell played some shots. We simply didn't quite apply ourselves well, " added Law.
