West Indies vs New Zealand Highlights, Women World Cup 2nd Semi Final: New Zealand beat West Indies by 8 runs, set up summit clash with South Africa

Suzie Bates is down for a quick chat. She says that there wasn't much of a breeze and the wicket was holding but Georgia Plimmer did well to push through. Mentions that they need to keep taking wickets and the positive thing is that there is something in it for the bowlers. On Chinelle Henry's injury, she says that it is difficult to see and hopes that she recovers soon. Ends by saying that with 130-odd runs on the board, anything can happen.

West Indies Women, on the other hand, looked like they were up for the task from the offset. Despite not getting any wickets in the Powerplay, they kept the runs in check and put pressure on the batters. They dominated the middle overs and kept picking up wickets at regular intervals, but they know they could have done even better. Their catching and fielding were excellent except for one occasion when Chinelle Henry spilled one and got hit on her face. She had to go out and we wish her a speedy recovery. The woman for the big matches, Deandra Dottin was the pick of the bowlers with a four-wicket haul while Afy Fletcher got a couple. Karishma Ramharack and Aaliyah Alleyne also chipped in with one each.

New Zealand Women looked a bit shaky from the start. Maybe it was some nerves of playing in a knockout after a long time. However, they managed to get through the Powerplay scoring 32 runs without losing a wicket. But once Suzie Bates was dismissed, they couldn't really recover from that. There was a period when they started to counterattack through Georgia Plimmer and Sophie Devine, but a break in play cost the former her wicket who was starting to look dangerous scoring 18 off just 9 balls. The Kiwis suffered a collapse after that going from 96/4 to 104/7. It was Izzy Gaze's quick-fire 20 off just 14 balls towards the end that got them over the 125-run mark and with the pitch assisting the spinners, it could be a winning total.

A fantastic bowling performance from West Indies Women! If at the start of the match, they were told that they would restrict the Kiwis under 130, they would have taken it with both hands. However, runs on the board are a crucial thing in a knockout game, and the Kiwi bowlers do have something to play with here.

Aaliyah Alleyne to Izzy Gaze, Just a single to end the first innings! Brilliant bowling from Aaliyah Alleyne as she nails another one right in the blockhole. This is on middle and leg, not much room for the batter either. Izzy Gaze hangs deep and hits it away towards deep mid-wicket for one. They don't push for the second and New Zealand Women finish with 128/9 on the board!

Aaliyah Alleyne to Eden Carson, OUT! RUN OUT! Had to be done in order to give Izzy Gaze a fighting chance on the final delivery. Aaliyah Alleyne goes full again and nails it right around the front boot. Eden Carson manages to dig it out but gets it right back at the bowler. Grace is already halfway down the pitch and Carson starts running as well. Alleyne jogs back and whips off the bails to send Carson back to the hut.

Aaliyah Alleyne to Lea Tahuhu, OUT! CAUGHT! Heart in the mouth moment for Qiana Joseph there but she manages to hang on to the ball. Aaliyah Alleyne continues from around the stumps and darts across a full ball on middle, angling it away. Lea Tahuhu hangs back and tries to make room in order to open up the off side but ends up slicing it up around the cover region. Joseph moves to her right and pouches the ball but it pops out and she holds onto it on the second attempt.

Aaliyah Alleyne to Izzy Gaze, Changes the angle of attack by coming around the stumps and bowls a full delivery, trying to angle it across off. Lovely deception from Dottin as she bowls the leg cutter, on a hard length over off and middle. This one holds a bit in the deck and just nibbles away. Maddy Green gets caught on the crease looking to work it away but gets a leading edge that pops up high and just to the silly point region. Afy Fletcher drops this one short and outside off, extracts good bounce off the deck as well. Sophie Devine rocks back and looks to cut but fails to keep it down and slices it straight to backward point where Karishma Ramharack takes a simple catch. A huge moment in the first innings as Devine departs with a fair chunk of overs remaining.

Deandra Dottin to Brooke Halliday, OUT! CASTLED! And it happens again! Another halt in play and New Zealand Women lose a wicket. Deandra Dottin steams in and serves another excellent yorker, on middle and off. Brooke Halliday may be still thinking about the last ball, fails to get her bat down in time and the ball rattles the off pole. A quick cameo of 18 off 9 from Halliday comes to an end now!

Another slight halt in play as that last throw seems to have hit Brooke Halliday flush on the left boot or near the ankle and that is a painful blow to take. Halliday seems to be fine but the physio does come out to have a look and probably apply some magic spray. A couple of minutes later, we are good to go again.
