... THE RUN CHASE ...
Right then, Delhi will certainly be the happier side at the halfway mark and the onus is now on their batters to get the job done. On the other hand, Mumbai have their backs against the wall and would need a miraculous bowling effort to defend this total. Can Mumbai bowlers make a match out of this? We shall find out shortly. Back in a bit for the chase...
Marizanne Kapp is in for a flash interview. She says that they are happy with the score but they still have to go out there and chase it. Adds that she is always happy to contribute and says that all the bowlers bowled well, especially Shikha Pandey. Adds that generally the scrambled seam isn't much effective in India but on this wicket, it seems to be working. Ends by saying that the score is a low one and they should be able to chase it down.
After Mumbai were put into bat by Meg Lanning, they were rocked early losing Yastika Bhatia and Natalie Sciver-Brunt off consecutive deliveries. They could not recover from that start and were soon reduced to 21-4. Pooja Vastrakar joined Harmanpreet Kaur and did not shy away from playing her shots. However, her departure followed by Kaur's dismissal put Mumbai into a hole once again. Towards the end, Issy Wong and Amanjot Kaur kept the scoreboard ticking and allowed Mumbai to cross the three-figure mark.
Delhi bowlers have vindicated their skipper's decision to bowl first and how. They have done a stellar job of restricting the strong batting unit of Mumbai to 109. It was Marizanne Kapp who set the tone early by striking twice in her second over. They capitalised on those twin blows and kept the pressure on the opposition bowlers. Every bowler who was brought into the attack got on to the wickets tally and piled more misery on Mumbai. Pooja Vastrakar did trouble them during the middle overs but they got rid of her before she could inflict any more damage. They never allowed Mumbai to gain any momentum and it was rounded up by some brilliant death bowling. Marizanne Kapp was the star of the show with figures of 2 for 13 from her four overs. Shikha Pandey and Jess Jonassen accounted for two wickets as well while Arundhati Reddy finished with one wicket.
