If you've ever wanted to cause chaos in as a skyscraper-sized queen or a pint-sized chaos gremlin, 2025 might just be your year. Fans think Rockstar is about to take character customization to a whole new level in GTA 6, and honestly? The patent they just found makes a pretty solid case.
A YouTuber uncovered a new Rockstar patent and it’s wild
Leave it to the GTA community to do Rockstar’s detective work. While we all sit around refreshing YouTube for a second trailer that still doesn’t exist, a YouTuber named CYBER BOI went digging through public records and stumbled upon a 88-page , which could be a total game-changer.
Filed late last year and just approved, this patent seems to be tied directly to Rockstar’s iconic RAGE engine and it’s all about advanced character animation. Not just "make them run better" stuff, we’re talking about how characters of different sizes and shapes will move, act, and interact with the world around them.
What does this mean? Height and weight sliders might actually be coming
In older GTA titles, animations were all motion-captured using real people. So if Rockstar wanted a big, bulky character to do something like throw a punch or jack a car? They had to find someone that size IRL and mocap it. Same with tall women, tiny people, anyone not “average.” That limits diversity big time.
But this patent describes a system where Rockstar’s engine can generate those animations automatically, regardless of body type.
Which basically means: you might be able to customize your character’s height, weight, and build in
GTA 6, and they’ll still move like real humans.
Honestly? It could give the game the same chaotic energy as a Sims 4 body mod pack with guns and sports cars.
We still don’t know when the second trailer is dropping, and Rockstar isn’t saying a word. But this little patent gem gives us a peek behind the curtain and confirms that
GTA 6 is cooking up some major upgrades behind the scenes.
