The former West Ham United forward is set to miss Austria's warm up match with England on Wednesday due to the injury, which he picked up playing for his Chinese Super League club in May.
Austria are in Group C alongside the Netherlands, Ukraine and their first opponents North Macedonia, who they face in Bucharest on June 13.
