The green and maroons had the upper hand from the start but it was a fair result in the end as Chennai upped the ante in the final 10 minutes, threatening to score the winner, and also hit the framework twice.

Sony put Bagan ahead in the 50th minute while the visitors levelled scores in the 82nd through Nestor Gordillo. The equalizer clearly rattled the home side as Chennai City laid siege to the rival box and Bagan were fortunate as Sandro Rodriguez hit the post while goalkeeper Sankar Roy pulled off a flying save to keep away a brilliant long-ranger by Edwin Vanspaul. Chennai remain unbeaten atop the standings, taking their tally to 17 points from seven games while Bagan have nine from six games. Bagan have played thrice at home so far but failed to win a game.
