Arsenal players and staff agree to 12.5 percent salary cut

Arsenal on April 21 became the first Premier league club to institute a pay cut due to the coronavirus crisis. The players and coaching staff agreed to a 12.5 percent salary cut which came into effect from last month. Along with that Arsenal also said that it will continue paying employees and casual workers full salaries till the end of May.

Wage deferment for Southampton, West Ham United and Aston Villa

While Southampton became the the first club to announce deferral of salaries of its players and coaching staff due to the pandemic, West Ham United joined them in deferring the salaries of its players. West Ham manager David Moyes, Vice Chairman Karren Brady and CFO Andy Mollett also agreed to a 30 percent pay cut. Aston Villa on April 25 joined the club, announcing deferral of salaries for its players, coaches and senior personnel in the management for a period of four months.

Manchester United players to donate 30 percent of their wages

Although Manchester United has not instituted pay cuts, the club players will be donating 30 percent of their wages to local hospitals and health services. The decision was reached after the club's captain Harry Maguire asked the squad to donate the salaries with players backing the call.

Juventus players and staff agree to a four-month salary cut

Serie A's top club Juventus reached an agreement with its players and managerial staff to cut salaries for a period of four months (March-June). The league leaders also said that the cut will have a positive impact of about 90 million Euros for the 2019/2020 financial year. All Serie A clubs have agreed to salary reductions (two to four months) due to the pandemic.

Roma players agree to no pay for remainder of season

Italian club Roma's players and their coach Paulo Fonseca agreed to go without pay for the rest of the season to help their club's finances with the crisis rising due to the coronavirus pandemic. The decision means that the players will be giving up their salaries for the period between March to June.

70 percent pay cut for FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid

La Liga giants FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid agreed to a massive 70 percent pay cut to ensure non-playing staff and others continue to get their salaries along with covering osses and avoiding lay-offs. While Barcelona players voluntarily took the cuts at the end of March, Atletico on April 2 announced a 70 percent slash for its players and manager Diego Simeone, who is currently the highest-paid football coach in the world.

10-20 percent pay cut for Real Madrid

On April 8, Real Madrid announced that its players, coaches and other employees have agreed to a 10-20 percent salary cut to cover the losses due to the coronavirus pandemic. There has been no football action in Spain since March.

Bundesliga clubs including Bayern Munich agree to 20 percent pay cut

Like many other European clubs, Bundesliga teams in Germany have also agreed to a 20 percent pay cut in salaries due to the coronavirus pandemic. The clubs came to an agreement to survive the economic impact caused by the virus. As the league continues to lose income due to no live matches being broadcast and no sponsorships, players have agreed to take a pay cut.
