City Police Ahmedabad sail through

AHMEDABAD: A 15th minute strike by Yash Mehta in a goal-mouth melee gave City Police Ahmedabad a 1-0 win over Soccer Wings Academy (SWA) in a closely fought encounter.
Mehta found himself posted at the right place at the right time to shoot home the winner when the SWA goalie Jayraj Chavda was completely blinded by the presence of two City Police striker in front of him deep inside the penalty box.
Mehta's fierce right-footer went like a bullet into the right corner of the net. SWA fought hard and Vishal Chudi created an opportunity late in the second half but his first-time right-footer flew over the crossbar.
Yash Mehta of City Police Ahmedabad who was declared the most valuable player of the match said: "I am very happy to open with a win but we can play much better than this. I hope the team will show its real potential in the next match." Mehta received vouchers worth Rs 2,000 for winning the MVP award.
City Police played without two of their stalwarts Imran Sheikh and Vishnu Chauhan but still managed to put up a stellar performance to win their opening match of the tournament with ease.
