NEW DELHI: Harry Kane's remarkable form continued as he scored his ninth goal in eight league matches, securing a 3-1 victory for Bayern Munich against Mainz on Saturday. The win came after Bayer Leverkusen returned to the top of the table with a win at Wolfsburg.

Kane, who joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham in the summer, headed in from close range after Kingsley Coman had given Bayern an early lead. Mainz, known for their home victories against German champions, managed to pull one back just before half-time when Anthony Caci found the net.

Early in the second half, Mainz's Stefan Bell missed a golden opportunity to equalize when he shot wide on a counterattack. However, Bayern seized the chance, with Leon Goretzka delivering a powerful strike from outside the box to seal the victory.

Despite the win, Kane admitted that Bayern Munich "rode their luck at times," and added, "I still feel like there's room for improvement — I'm still getting to know my teammates."

Bayern's coach, Thomas Tuchel, praised his team's performance, noting the challenges they faced due to injuries and illness. Bayern Munich are now two points behind Leverkusen after eight matches.

"(Matthijs de Ligt) is coming back from injury, Jo (Joshua Kimmich) had the flu and Leon (Goretzka) had a swollen ankle, so I'm happy about it. Awesome performance," said the former Chmapions League-winning manager with Chelsea.
