Club began preparation for the upcoming edition of the second division

I-League

2017-18 on Monday. The Kolkata club had their training session at the club ground here.


The session started with introduction of the players with the coaching staff and club officials. The fitness level of the players were then assessed through fitness drills. That was followed by a full-fledged practice session under the watchful eyes of head coach

"We are happy to be back on the field," said Biswajit Bhattacharya in a press statement issued by the club on Monday. "It's going to be a tough competition. I need to prepare the players with that in mind so that they can play at their best level all the way till the end.

"It won't be easy because we have only just assembled a squad. But we have got a really good bunch of players that I am confident will transform into a strong unit." he added.

The second division I-League is scheduled to begin in the second week of March.

Mohammedan Sporting have got together a young squad with the likes of

Jiten Murmu

,

Tirthankar Sarkar

, Prahlad Roy, Ankit Mukherjee, Kamran Farooque, Debasish Pradhan and Satyam Sarma forming the core of the team.

Mohammedan Sporting have also roped in Trinidadian striker Willis Plaza. The former

East Bengal

marksman was, however, not present on Monday and he is expected to join the squad later this month.

Mohammedan Sporting currently have 21 players on their roster and are looking to bolster the squad in the next couple of weeks.
