Shrinivas Dempo elected Goa Football Association president

PANAJI: Shrinivas Dempo was elected president of Goa Football Association edging out Sporting Clube de Goa chief Peter Vaz in a close direct contest. Dempo won 85-75 in the election voted by all the members. "I spent 14-15 hours a day to work hard for this victory," Dempo said. However, both the Dempo camp's vice-presidential candidates, Vinod Parkot and Francis Fernandes lost by big margins to Elvis Gomes and Lavinio Rebello respectively. For the South Goavice-president's seat Elvis polled 56 votes as against Parkot's 31 while for theNorth Goa seat, Lavinio garnered 43 votes compared to Francis' 29.
