On Wednesday at the Motibagh ground, City Police came up with another brilliant effort to hold former champions Rahul Club to a goalless draw.

Although there was no goal in the match, there were several exciting moments which kept the spectators entertained throughout the 90 minutes duration of the tie.

City Police team management alleged that they were denied a penalty in the 35th minute of the first half when their forward Manish Mohod was brought down by Rahul Club defenders inside the box. However, referee Altaf Khan did not listen to City Police appeal and asked the players to carry on. Another City Police striker Azhar Shaikh also squandered away a couple of goal-scoring chances much to the frustration of his teammates.

In the second session, Rahul Club had 3-4 very good chances of goal-scoring but City Police goalkeeper Tausif Ansari made some acrobatic diving saves to deny former champions to register their first win in the Super Six stage.

City Police played the last 30 minutes of the match with only ten players as Nitin Varti was sent off the field in the 53rd minute following two yellow cards. Earlier he was booked in the 25th minute. Shoeb Ansari was cautioned in the 52nd minute.

Rahul’s Md Imran and Hozoma Chidozie were also shown yellow cards in the first half.

With this draw, City cops have now 4 points to their credit after three matches with one win and one defeat. They kept their chances alive of reaching the semis.

Rahul Club have only one point from three matches. They have to play Nagpur FC and defending champions Young Muslim FC in their remaining two matches.

The Super Division League match between Rahul Brothers and Range Police also ended in a goalless draw at the Police Line Takli ground.

In the Senior Division League, Guards Regimental Centre (GRC) thrashed Birsa Munda 7-0. Parminder Singh, Ajay Ekka and Pradeep Kumar slammed a brace each, while Amit Kumar chipped in with a goal.
