MUMBAI: The 29th All Maharashtra Anglo-Indian Schools football and basketball tournaments hosted by Barnes School & Junior College, Devlali (Nashik) will be held between August 25 to 29, and some of Mumbai's leading schools including Campion, Bombay Scottish, Christ Church and Cathedral & John Connon will be participating in it.
The tournament is being held under the auspices of the Bombay Education Society, while the schools are affiliated to the International Baccalaureate (IB) and International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and are members of the Association of Heads of Anglo-Indian Schools, Maharashtra Chapter.
Twelve teams will be participating in the football competition for boys which will feature six teams in the Junior College group (Stds. XI & XII) and six in the Secondary group (Std. X & below), while six teams will feature in the basketball competition for girls. The top four teams at the end of the round robin leagues in each group will qualify for the knock out semi-finals.
Mumbai's Bombay Scottish (Mahim), Cathedral & John Connon and Christ Church will be challenged by Pune's Hutchings High School, Bishop's (Camp) and hosts Barnes in the Junior College group.
Four Mumbai schools, Campion, St. Mary's, Bombay Scottish, Powai and St. Peter's, Mazagaon and Pune's Bishop's, Kalyaninagar and Bishop's, Undri are the teams in the Secondary group.
The basketball competition for girls includes Mumbai's Christ Church and Cathedral & John Connon, Pune's Bishop's (Kalyaninagar), Bishop's (Undri), Bishop's (Camp) and Barnes.
