Why should I resign?: Siddaramaiah

Chief minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah expressed his determination to face the challenges head-on, refusing to be intimidated by the alleged conspiracy involving the BJP, JD(S), and the Governor's office.

Siddaramaiah further added that, "Why should I resign? HD Kumaraswamy is on bail. Did he resign? In an inquiry stage, how come the resignation point arises? We will face them politically."

BJP wants to discredit us with corruption charges. The Karnataka CM is not involved in the scam. The land is not in his name. The compensatory land was not given during the Congress rule it was given during the BJP rule. Why is Governor being so selective in giving the prosecution sanctions only to one person? Earlier also we had clearly told that in MUDA scam the CM was directly involved and their families are the beneficiaries. We took out padyatra from Bengaluru to Mysuru demanding the resignation of the corrupt Chief Minister. The matter reached the Governor's office and the Governor after going through the papers and consultation with experts permitted prosecution. The CM and their cabinet colleagues alleged so many things against the Governor's office. Now when the matter reached the HC, today the HC clearly said in its verdict that the Governor's action was as per the law. The judgement indicates that the CM and his family are involved in the scam. We have been demanding the resignation of the CM from the last two months in the MUDA scam. I hope CM Siddaramaiah respects the verdict of the HC and resigns.

The writ petition challenging the order of approval passed by Karnataka Governor has been dismissed and the summary of the judgment would be that the facts envisaged in the complaint would undoubtedly warrant investigation. Secondly, the act of the complainant seeking approval from the Governor is lawful. The sanction granted is upheld by the High Court. They sought for extension of stay pending appeal period, they sought the extension of stay period for about 2 weeks which the Court denied stating that the interim order which existed in the favour of the petitioner would also be dissolved. As of now, there is no difficulty for the special court of legislators to proceed with the complaint in accordance with the law.
