The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to declare the Class 12 results for the 2026 academic session by the end of April. The board has already completed the evaluation of answer sheets using an on-screen marking system, a digital approach designed to ensure uniformity, accuracy, and faster processing of marks. This method has significantly streamlined the assessment process, helping the board stay on track with its anticipated result timeline.

Multiple Ways to Access Results
Once released, students will be able to check their results online through official CBSE websites. To make the process more accessible, the board has also enabled several alternative platforms. Students can access their scores via DigiLocker, SMS services, and the UMANG mobile application. These options are particularly helpful for students in areas with limited internet connectivity or high traffic on official websites during result hours.

Exam Timeline and Result Date
The CBSE Class 12 board examinations for 2026 were conducted from February 17 to April 10. Based on current updates, the results are likely to be announced by April 30, 2026. Following the declaration of the main results, the board will conduct compartment examinations for students who are unable to pass one or more subjects. These exams are scheduled for July 2026, and their results are expected in the first week of August.

Provisional Mark Sheets and Official Documents
Students should note that the results available online will be provisional in nature. The official mark sheets and passing certificates will be distributed later through respective schools. The scorecard will include important details such as the student’s name, roll number, parents’ names, date of birth, subject-wise marks, total score, grades, and overall qualifying status.

Passing Criteria and Evaluation Policy
To successfully pass the CBSE Class 12 examinations, students must secure at least 33 percent marks in both theory and practical components of each subject. This requirement must be met separately wherever applicable. Continuing its policy from previous years, CBSE will not release a toppers’ list, a step aimed at reducing academic pressure and discouraging unhealthy competition among students.

Previous Years’ Performance Trends
CBSE is also expected to release detailed result statistics along with the 2026 outcome. In 2025, around 16.9 lakh students appeared for the examinations, achieving an overall pass percentage of 88.39 percent. Girls outperformed boys, recording a pass percentage of 91.64 percent, while boys stood at 85.70 percent. A similar trend was observed in earlier years, with overall pass percentages of 87.98 percent in 2024 and 87.33 percent in 2023.

The highest pass percentage in recent years was recorded in 2021 at 99.37 percent, while earlier years such as 2017 saw a comparatively lower figure of 73.96 percent. Data from 2015 to 2020 shows moderate fluctuations, with pass percentages generally ranging between 82 percent and 88.78 percent.

Student Participation and Compartment Exams
In 2026, approximately 10.2 lakh boys and 8.3 lakh girls appeared for the Class 12 board examinations. Students who are unable to clear one or more subjects will have the opportunity to appear for compartment exams. These will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode in July 2026. The results for these supplementary exams are expected to be released in early August and will include key details such as marks obtained, grades, and final qualifying status.
