After Madrid victory, Antonio Felix da Costa moves second on Formula E all-time wins list
Antonio Felix da Costa has a lot to celebrate at present after securing his second consecutive win of the season in Madrid. The Jaguar TCS Racing driver had just registered his maiden victory with his new team in Jeddah and followed it up with another win in Madrid. He not only became the only driver with two wins this season but also drew level with Formula E driver Sebastien Buemi for the second-most Formula E wins in his career. Both he and Buemi have 14 wins each, while it is Da Costa’s team-mate Mitch Evans at the top with 15 wins.
Lucas Di Grassi, whom Da Costa overtook on the list, reacted to the post with multiple clapping emojis. Di Grassi is now third with 13 Formula E wins. Da Costa’s elder brother, Duarte Felix da Costa, simply wrote “DAC” along with a trophy and bicep emoji.
A fan wrote: “DAC is coming.” Another commented: “Let’s go AFC!!!!!!!!!!!” One more fan called it “Jag domination!!!!” Another comment read: “AFC is a machine!”
Da Costa also had his team-mate Mitch Evans sharing the podium in second place. Evans was very much in contention for the win, but the team gave the go-ahead to Da Costa on this occasion.
Da Costa said after the race, “Back-to-back wins, a 1-2 for the team, that doesn’t happen often! Massive congratulations to all the boys and girls back in the UK providing us with these cars. It’s kind of a home race for me, I have a lot of friends and family here, and it’s a bit of a dream day. We’re both winners, we both wanted to win, we just got different messages. We’ll work it out. I’m happy for Mitch [Evans], he must have done an amazing race. I’ve got to go back and watch that because he came from the back! I’m happy with what we executed today, and it’s a dream day.”
The 34-year-old Portuguese driver is currently spending his free time at home. He will return to racing for Round 7 in Berlin. The Berlin double-header will take place from 1-3 May.
