All generations of Formula E cars to feature in landmark display at Goodwood Festival of Speed
Formula E is all set to join one of motorsport’s most iconic events, the Goodwood Festival of Speed, as an Official Partner. As per this year’s theme, ‘The Rivals - Epic Racing Duels’, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will showcase the evolution of the electric racing series over the past decade through a landmark display of every generation of Formula E car, from GEN1 through to the all-new GEN4.
Motorsport fans can take a closer look at the four generations of cars at a dedicated showcase in the Ballroom Paddock throughout the weekend. The GEN4, which is set to debut next season, will be the centre of attention alongside the earlier generations of Formula E cars, which will also be on static display.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is a four-day celebration that brings together the past, present and future of motorsport. This year, it will take place from Thursday, July 9 to Sunday, July 12 at the 12,000-acre Goodwood Estate in West Sussex, where it is held annually.
Andretti driver Jake Dennis said about the GEN4 cars, “I think that’s what the public have been calling for - quicker, faster cars - and honestly, that’s exactly what the GEN4 is. It’s an absolute beast: super quick, looks incredible, and I think it’s going to be a real eye-opener for everyone.”
Envision Racing’s Sebastien Buemi also called it a beast. “It feels like a beast. I’d say it’s modern, it looks fast, you know? Big tyres, good aero and then when you see it drive or you drive it yourself, it’s pretty impressive. I think the biggest change is mainly aerodynamic. Obviously a lot more downforce, tyres are bigger and the car is more powerful. We’ll have four-wheel drive all the time, but a lot more power, so it’s like a very strong, improved GEN3 Evo,” he said.
