Antonio Felix da Costa and Mitch Evans present Formula E Oscars, name Funniest Driver, Hardest to Overtake and more
As the Oscar Awards were announced in Hollywood, Jaguar TCS Racing drivers Antonio Felix da Costa and Mitch Evans took it upon themselves to conduct their very own Oscars on track. They gave awards to winners in categories such as Most Dramatic Driver, Hardest to Overtake, and even Driver Most Likely to Cry on the Podium. Their fans loved the video of them presenting the awards and also agreed with their decisions on the winners.
For the Funniest Driver award, Mitch Evans told Antonio Felix da Costa to take the trophy, but they eventually chose Nissan driver Norman Nato. On receiving the tiny Oscar trophy, Nato said in response, “Thank you very much. Thanks to all my fans, and I will try to always stay the same.”
This was followed by Best Helmet Design, which once again Evans wanted da Costa to take, but the latter gave it to Evans.
For the Hardest to Overtake award, Evans named Mahindra Racing’s Edoardo Mortara, who was in close competition with Nissan driver Oliver Rowland. When Evans asked da Costa to decide, they gave the award to Oliver Rowland. “I'd like to thank all my fans and hopefully I stay the hardest to overtake,” said the reigning Formula E champion Rowland while receiving the fake Oscar trophy.
The next award was Most Likely to Cry on the Podium. Da Costa named Taylor Barnard, but Evans disagreed, saying, “I can't see Taylor crying. I think Lucas, if he wins.” They gave the award to Lucas Di Grassi. The Lola Yamaha ABT driver graciously received the award and said, “Amazing, thank you very much. And actually it's true, because with my son and my daughter in Miami, that was actually a very good moment.”
For the Most Likely to Pay to Drive at Dinner award, Evans named da Costa, who responded, “I'll tell you a story someday, but I get this one. Thank you so much. It's the first and last time I win this award.” Evans joked, “I got your credit card.”
They went on to name Envision Racing driver Sebastian Buemi for the Most Dramatic award. “Yeah, not surprised,” Buemi said while receiving his trophy.
The Formula E drivers are on a month-long break before they return to the track for the Berlin double-header. Rounds 7 and 8 are scheduled from 1–3 May.
