Antonio Felix Da Costa tied for most Berlin wins after Mitch Evans’ latest victory

Things did not go to plan for Antonio Felix Da Costa in Berlin this season, as the Jaguar TCS Racing driver failed to repeat his previous success. Da Costa had been tied with Nick Cassidy for the most wins in Berlin, but could not add another victory after joining Jaguar from Porsche this season. He finished 10th in Round 7 and was the final classified driver in Round 8 at the Berlin E-Prix. It was actually his Jaguar teammate Mitch Evans who won the Berlin E-Prix part 2.

Antonio Felix Da Costa started ninth on the grid in Round 7 and eventually finished 10th, collecting one point.

Commenting on his performance in Round 7, Da Costa said in a statement, “That was a difficult race, and ultimately a frustrating result. In the first part of the race I managed energy very well and was up on many of the cars around me, so after the Pit Boost I felt I was in a good position – even though I didn’t feel I had the best balance. Unfortunately our position after Pit Boost did not remain as expected around other cars pitting, and though I was still in the fight I was battling some de-rates towards the end of the race. I felt we definitely left points on the table today, so we’ll go away and analyse the data.”

While Da Costa scored one point after finishing 10th, his Jaguar teammate Mitch Evans finished sixth and collected eight points.

However, it was Evans’ turn to shine the following day as he went on to win the Round 8 race at the Tempelhof Airport Street Circuit. The victory saw him become the Formula E driver with the most race wins in the history of the all-electric series. Da Costa, meanwhile, finished last in 18th place.

Antonio Felix Da Costa’s run this season

Expectations were high for Antonio Felix Da Costa heading into Berlin after securing back-to-back victories in Round 5 in Jeddah and Round 6 in Madrid. He is currently eighth in the Formula E Drivers’ Championship standings with 65 points.

Da Costa will now head to Monaco next week for the Monaco E-Prix double-header, scheduled for 16 and 17 May.

The Portuguese driver won the Monaco E-Prix in 2021 from pole position while racing for DS Techeetah.
